Mandapas (Purifying Halls)

Mandapas were generally wooden, or at least wooden on a brick base. Therefore, very little remains of Champa's mandapas.

The only complete mandapas to have survived are:

D1 and D2 at My Son (10th century)

which were mandapas to the main kalans (temples) C1 and B1 respectively, and were
placed directly in front of the gopuras (gateway buildings) in line with the kalans

The foundations and columns still remain from the 9th century

mandapa at Pô Nagar

This structure never had walls, but was roofed. As at My Son,
this mandapa was outside the sanctuary, aligned with the entrance of the main kalan.

Much later (13th century) is:

the mandapa at Pô Klaung Gerai

This mandapa is located inside the sanctuary, between the gopura (gateway tower)
and the main kalan. Originally, wooden columns supported a roof over this building.
